The Copyright Agency | Viscopy Survey

Friday, 23 October 2015

Key Dates:

Survey closes: Friday 06 November 2015 (5pm AEDT).

The Copyright Agency | Viscopy is undertaking a research project, 'Voice of the Artist', to find out more about the extent to which visual artists have been impacted – either positively or negatively – by the on-line environment.

This study will be first in Australia and New Zealand to more deeply explore the intersection between visual artists and the on-line environment.  The study will help to better understand how visual artists manage their copyright and the impact the digital environment has on their ability to earn an income.

The objectives of the survey are to:

  • Understand how visual artists manage their copyright.
  • Assess the impact of copyright infringement and digital technology on visual artists.
  • Consider perceptions of artists' rights in a digital economy.
  • Identify opportunities for revenue to artists from the copying or sharing of their work, particularly in the on-line environment.

The results will be of broad benefit to everyone in the industry and will help Viscopy to better understand the opportunities for creating a sustainable economic future for visual artists.

The findings will be communicated to all key stakeholders and lay the foundations for further conversations to be presented in full feature publication which will be launched at an event early to mid-2016.

Complete the survey here.  It will take 7-12 minutes to complete and is entirely anonymous.
