Warakurna Artists: Manager Position Available

Tuesday, 16 June 2015

Key Dates:

Applications close: Friday 17 July 2015.

Warakurna and Kayili Artists service a vast area of the Ngaanyatjarra Lands working with artists from Warakurna, Wanarn and Patjarr communities. The artists and Directors are now seeking a highly capable and motivated arts professional who can balance the demands of a high-energy studio, a busy enterprise and national and international networks. This is a leadership role, requiring enthusiasm and negotiation skills.

Warakurna Artists and Kayili Artists are leading Aboriginal owned and governed Art Centres located in the Ngaanyatjarra Lands of WA. Warakurna and Kayili Art Centres now work together, and both maintain an enviable record of high quality creative, cultural and community outcomes.

The new Manager will need finely developed aesthetic skills, the ability to promote Warakurna and Kayili Artists and, preferably, an inventive streak. This dynamic, fast paced and multi-faceted role will see you working with some of the most successful artists in the country, delivering a broad range of projects to cater for different artist demographics.

The Manager will work closely with the Board of Directors to support excellence in art-making, business management and community-focussed programs and further enhance the reputation of Warakurna Artists.

Working in a cross-cultural setting, where English is a second language, requires the Manager to be flexible and adaptive, with an appreciation of Aboriginal worldviews. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to lead a robust remote art organisation into the future!
