Key Dates:

Proposal submissions close: Wednesday 22 July 2015

The City of Fremantle is seeking new, bold and engaging temporary or ephemeral artworks for its 2015 Public Art Program.

This year the Public Art Program will be held as a highlight of the Fremantle Festival, and it is envisaged the Temporary Public Art Program will occupy Kings Square in the lead up to and during the Festival.

The City seeks temporary or ephemeral artwork proposals that:

• are located in Kings Square, Fremantle (bounded by Queen St and Adelaide St) for an agreed period in the lead up to and during the 2015 Fremantle Festival,

• encourage the community to engage with Kings Square in new or challenging ways,

• may involve community activities as an integral part of its artistic premise,

• or that are otherwise inspirational.

There is no limitation in materials, provided they pose no threat or hazard to the environment. The construction must comply with relevant regulations.

Fremantle Festival:  23 Oct-1 Nov 2015.  It is expected the works will be exhibition ready at the opening of the Festival on the 23 October. The artworks display period will be agreed between the artist and the City of Fremantle, however at a minimum the artwork should exist in Kings Square for the 10 days of the Festival.
