Would Your Organisation Benefit From Arts Administration Training?

Thursday, 1 December 2011

As arts based organisations become an integral part of our community, more pressure is placed on them to become a professional entity and business that looks to consumers, government and sponsors for support.

The role of an Arts Administrator is invaluable in planning, organising and implementing not just the day to day operations but openings, exhibitions and festivals that may require the coordination of performers, artists, personnel, council, sponsors and the list goes on.

With this in mind an Arts Administration Advisory group has been set up to look at the potential of establishing a traineeship in Art's Administration. Through a traineeship your employees can develop new skills and refine those they already have while aiming to achieve a nationally recognised qualification. Delivery can be flexible to ensure little disruption to the running of your organisation, with potential to receive government incentives for eligible candidates. It is hoped that this will help to encourage people into the industry and assist and provided a path way for young people.

A traineeship can be accessed by most organisations irrespective of size, with an ability to customise the training through the choice of elective units.

It is important to note that without industry support the Arts Administration traineeship will not get off the ground.

If you or anyone in your organisation has questions or would like to comment contact Monica Kane, Training and Business Development, Community Arts Network Western Australia on 08 9226 2422 or email monica@canwa.com.au.
